Bonus Insight:
Your job interview training has an “Achilles Heel” because, outside of the real interview, it’s nearly impossible to ask interview questions realistically from a “dummy” mock interviewer who is no threat to you.
So what can you do? Ask interview questions that can be delivered in a matter-of-fact style; to the point.
Asking questions gives you control; control is power and intoxicating. Whatever you do, don’t get carried away. Apply a pinch of humility that implies respect.
Thoroughly research your employer. Come up with intelligent, technical questions that show your knowledge of the employer and the job desired. Don’t ask questions just to keep control of the interview. Don’t annoy your interviewer with tactics that come across as a waste of time.
With all the free resources available, you should be able to find a nice selection of sample questions that you can adapt to your scenario.
Summary
Train for Step 2 as if your career depends on it. It does! If you can convert your Step 2 into a chat before Step 3 then your questioning should be easier and more natural.
Never slack off. Your words and your body language must work as one throughout your interview.
Once you are empowered to ask questions, nail down Step 3. Show your interviewer that you have done detailed research regarding the employer and the job in question. Can anyone do better?
By now you should have a good idea as to what direction your job interview is heading. Your only remaining task is to get a job offer. For tips on asking for the job see Step #4, “Ultimate Job Interview Secret!”
